December 8, 2020: Ph.D. student Miranda Lehman was awarded the prestigious Steven C. Potter Scholarship of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration.
October 30, 2020: Spencer R. Titley (September 27, 1928 – August 18, 2019) was inducted into the National Mining Hall of Fame. Spence held a B.S. in Geological Engineering from Mines and a Ph.D. in Ph.D. in Geology and Chemistry from the University of Arizona. Spence was an esteemed leader in the field of economic geology and one of the world’s authorities on copper porphyry deposits.
June 24, 2020: Mines is prominently featured in the SEG Podcast Episode 8: Gold in the Abitibi – New System-Scale Research. Richard Goldfarb, world-renowned orogenic gold expert, introduces the orogenic gold model and the importance of understanding this model to assist in future exploration efforts for deposits under cover. October 14, 2019: Garrett Gissler, a PhD student in the Center for Mineral Resources Science at Colorado School of Mines, has won the prestigious SRK U.S. scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year… [link]
October 11, 2019: Drs. Zhaoshan Chang and Nicole Hurtig attended the SEG 2019 conference in Santiago, Chile manning a booth representing CMRS and promoting our Professional Master Program in Mineral Exploration. The meeting presented a great opportunity to converse with working professionals and students from different countries and backgrounds. Our initiative to newly offer modular courses and certificates in the Professional Master Program enabling degree-completion as a part-time student in the on-job mode has received an overwhelming positive response from conference participants. Over 80 people have singed up for more information on the programs and research initiatives at Mines. We are very excited and hopeful to welcome new students into our PM Program next Fall and greatly diversify our student population.
